What is an ACL?

An ACL (Adult Camp Leader) is a sister that serves to advise your YCLs (Youth Camp Leader is a 16-17 year old assigned to lead a group of 8-10 girls at camp) and help ensure that the girls are safe and participating in camp activities. This can include planning with your assigned YCL on assignments before camp, helping keep track of girls and schedules while at camp, and assisting in any disciplinary issues within the small group assigned to your two YCLs.

It is ideal that we have one or two adult camp leaders per ward serve at girl’s camp, however the need is based on a 1 to 10 ratio. 1 adult for every 10 girls going. If this is met, it is
sufficient. If no young women’s leader can attend in a ward, each bishop (with the stake presidency representative’s approval) will invite a sister or two that they choose to serve as an ACL.

ACLs report to the camp committee with concerns or questions. Their primary objective is to support the youth leaders at camp and assist them with planning and discipline of campers while at camp.

They need to attend all planning meetings prior to camp and commit to being at camp for the entirety of camp, with any and all exceptions discussed with the camp director and the stake presidency representative prior to camp.

ACL Lesson

The ACL Lesson is Personal Preparation for Temple Blessings. Please review this talk and be prepared to share this as a short lesson to share with the girls within your assigned A-frame.

As a member of the camp council, the Stake YW Presidency has the primary role of assisting the camp director and camp committee with reserving the camp and making sure transportation and paperwork is taken care of for girl’s camp. The stake YW presidency assists and supports the camp director and committee in planning girls camp and while
at camp serves and runs the camp store. The stake YW president/ presidency, stake presidency representative, and stake high council representative all sit on the camp council and counsels with and supports the camp committee and youth leaders in planning camp.

The camp cooks are invited by the camp director to serve and are assigned and approved by the stake presidency representative. They work with the camp director and committee to plan a camp menu and to plan the delivery and preparation of all meals at camp. They work under the direction of the camp director who then reports to the stake presidency representative on all budgetary concerns and plans.
Each camp cook must have been trained on food handling safety, have a current food handlers permit for San Bernardino County, and bring a copy of this permit with them to camp.

What is a PAC?

Brethren are invited and assigned to serve as the security at camp. This is typically assigned in two shifts, a daytime shift and an overnight shift. This assignment is the responsibility of the stake high council representative and the bishops from each ward. They work together to make sure that assignments are made in each ward and that girls camp is safe and secure for the duration. While serving up at camp they are responsible for the safety and security of the camp. They are watchful that only approved individuals are at camp and assist the camp leadership with all needs at camp.

What do I need to do?

Before coming to camp, you must have the Church Youth Protection Training completed.
While at camp, during your entire shift, you and your partner PAC are to be awake and monitoring the security of the girls at camp.
Other assignments that are assigned to PAC members include taking out trash, helping take out and put away tables, and mopping of the floors in the dining hall and kitchen. Other duties may be assigned while at camp by a member of the camp committee.
